Vintage Rimini red Italian Pottery Vase Mid Century Modern Bitossi style by Aldo Londi.
The back story is interesting. When Guido Bitossi founded the brand in 1921, his family were already part of a centuries tradition. Bitossi ancestors had been kiln workers, sculptors, painters and potters in Montelupo Fiorentino, near Florence, since the 1530s.
It was Guido’s four sons, Vittoriano, Marcello, Mario and Carlo, who, with the help of ceramicist Aldo Londi, transformed Bitossi into a contemporary design force during the post-war period.
The pieces are wonderful and have often been copied by recent manufactures. Signed.
