Antique Vintage Black and White Photograph of Ostrich Farm
Antique Vintage Black and White Photograph of Ostrich Farm
One of my loves, photography, in particular black and white! This one is a vintage photo (although probably printed in the last 30 years) of a man standing amidst a gaggle of ostriches at a farm, perhaps in Texas. Ostrich farms were common, at the turn of the 20th century in California and Texas. Who knew?
Native to Africa, ostriches are found in the savanna and desert regions, where they graze among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and gazelles.
What they were used for nobody knows?
I was recently selling just the photograph but found this phenomenal old wood frame, rococo and shabby chic entwined to create a sort of “grey gardens” vibe! If you don’t know what that’s referring to please look up the original documentary, “Grey Gardens” by the Maysles brothers, depicting the every day lives of two reclusive, upper middle class mother and daughter duo who were cousins to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
